step by step.
1. Check-up
We begin the procedure with an examination of the entire mouth: teeth, tongue, gums. We do a quick "periodontal probing" to make sure you don't have any periodontal pockets.
2. Plaque / Biofilm disclosing
We insert a mouth-opener and apply a plaque detector to highlight the biofilm.
3. Home cleaning instructions
We provide you with a mirror so we can see the situation together, and we proceed with good home hygiene instruction and motivation that will be different and tailored to each patient.
4. Airflow polishing
We start the procedure with the Airflow Max and remove all bacterial biofilm (highlighted in purple) and stains from the teeth.
5. Calculus removal
We then move on to tartar removal, using the ultrasonic Piezon and the new ultra-thin tip that causes no sensitivity.
6. Final check-up
We carry out a final check using dental floss and/or a tartar probe.
Why don't we do more polish with abrasive cups?
We no longer polish with abrasive brushes/cups because they scratch and damage teeth over time, increasing the build-up of bacteria and stains.
This step is replaced by the use of Airlfow, whose mission is to remove stains and bacteria. We prefer to call this step “Airflow polishing”.
